What do you first think of when you hear the word JELL-O?

I always imagine jumping into a pool of delicious jiggling red jello.
It's on my life list to accomplish this feat. I am determined!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things

I have learned SO MUCH in this class. It is so exciting to be familiar with so much technology. I feel like I can tackle anything that comes my way in the form of technology. I feel so empowered.

Some of my favorite things include:
My Class Website
My Video Project
Wikis
Learning How to Edit Music With Audacity

I feel like the most useful technology to implement into my class would be the class website. I know, that as a student, I really appreciate when I have easy access to information about classes I am taking on-line. I want my students to have this same easy access to learning.

I've enjoyed this class a lot! Have a GREAT summer everybody!

My Wiki Post

The following is the link to my lesson plan on the wiki page:
Music Editing with Audacity

This is the link to a great blog that has a lot of dance resources:
Dance Here

Wikis

I think wikis would be great in dance education because students are required to do so many group projects. A wiki would be a great way for students to communicate with one another to know how to coordinate and organize their group projects.

Also, a wiki would be a perfect place to post links to different dance resources and then start discussions on the resources for students in the class to participate in.

Sharing My Vast Knowledge

I decided to share what I learned about Cyberbullying with my sister who is the mother of four children.

I told my sister about the dangers of cyberbullying and how prevalent it is becoming among students in grades k-12. This information really surprised her. She, like me, had never realized the danger of social networking as far as bullying goes. She took this information really seriously and said that she is going to talk to her children about how they need to be respectful to other children over the internet, as well as tell her or their dad if anyone is ever rude to them online.

Internet Safety

The videos I watched were:

The News Report on Teens Sharing Information
http://quietube.com/v.php/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhLUt1NKkTs

The Frontline Documentary "Growing Up On-Line"
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/kidsonline/view/

I also read the article:
"Just a game?"
http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=afee15e67b5b2210VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD

The thing that surprised me the most was the part of the documentary that addressed cyberbullying and anorexia. I was shocked to discover how much parents didn't know about their children's internet life...to the point that suicide and eating disorders could take place right under the parents nose.

Above all, I learned from this assignment that no parents should let their child have their own computer in their own room. I don't think parents need to be as obsessive as demanding their children's private passwords, but I don't believe that children need their own computers in their rooms. (all of the children with problems in the documentary had their own computer.)

This has informed me that I should be proactive as a parent and a teacher in knowing about my children's and my student's lives. I really appreciate when my family members/teachers are friends with me on facebook and take interest in my life. I think if children are friends with their teachers/parents within social networks, they will be more cautious as to what they put on line.

I don't think kids are as bad as the documentary made them out to be. It seems to me that most kids just use the internet as a way to wind down after school and a way to have fun with their friends. I think those kids that are getting into trouble on the internet would be getting into trouble without the internet too.

I also never considered the danger of identity theft for some reason. I have always been cautious not to put my birthday etc. becuase I was scared I would be stalked or someting...I never considered identity theft as a possible consequence.
