What do you first think of when you hear the word JELL-O?

I always imagine jumping into a pool of delicious jiggling red jello.
It's on my life list to accomplish this feat. I am determined!

Yay for Videos on the Internet!

This week I created my very own account at viddler.com. I am so excited to explore the site and find ways that it can improve my dance teaching!

In dance education, it is SO important that students have the opportunity to:

-View themselves dancing
-Receive personal feedback of their dancing
-Critique others' dance technique and performance
-View professional dance performences

I'm hoping that I can use video communication tools such as Viddler to help my students accomplish these things!

Internet Communication

One of my favorite movies is "You've Got Mail." I figured that little detail about myself is important for this week, cause that movie is all about internet communication.

I just want the world to know how great I think internet communication is. I mean, it is so cool that I can just type up a quick email and send it to ANYONE in the world! Email really connects anyone and everyone, and it has made communication so fantastically easy.
Blackboard, blogs, Skype...the list goes on and on. I would like to personally thank all those many brilliant individuals out there that have made my life so much better by providing the means for internet communication!

Google Reader Subscriptions

I found some great resources through Google reader. The different subscriptions I added are as follows:

Dance News: This blog is posted by Wayne University's Dance Department. While it is not directly an education blog, I believe one of the best ways to learn in the world of dance is to see what others are doing.

Dancing into the Future: A blog describing the new technological advances in the dance field.

Secondary Worlds, Teaching, Technology, and English Education: This blog describes various ways to integrate technology into secondary Education English Teaching. This is great for me because I am an English teaching minor.

Educational Technology: This blog describes what is happening around the country in terms of technology in the public school system.

About.com - Secondary Education: This subscription allows me to access many frequently asked questions about teaching in public schools.

I Love Technology

Whenever I think of technology the song from Napoleon Dynamite pops right into my head. "I love technology, but not as much as you, you see..."

I must say that I agree with Kip. I do love technology. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about it. I'm really excited for this class to learn how to use technology to help me in my teaching career.

I chose gadgets for my blog that I felt fit my personality. I chose the text gadget to show my love for JELL-O. I really love red JELL-O a lot.

I chose the search bar gadget so I could easily search through my blog. I use gmail for my email account, and I love the search bar that I use with that, so I thought I'd add one to my blog as well.

About Me

Hello! I am Kelli Thredgold. The one and only as far as I know! I am a Dance Education Major at Brigham Young University. I LOVE dancing. As a matter of fact, I do it ALL the time. Just ask any of my friends and they will tell you that rarely is there an occasion where I'm not jumpin' around all over the place.

I am from a little town called Fruit Heights, UT. I've lived in that same area my whole life, but I have moved 8 times! My parents love to remodel houses, so I've lived in quite a few. The mountains there are beautiful, and I love spending time up in the canyon.

I am currently on a dance company at BYU called Kinnect. With this company, I perform in elementary school assemblies, and teach creative dance classes to elementary school students. I absolutely love teaching children how to dance. They love it, and they are SO creative!
